Beginning Thursday, July 12, 2012, the Clinton County News will be offering an online subscription to its website.

The new website went live on February 1, 2011, and has been offering the news for free to its readers since then.

Now, the website will give readers three free story views per month. After the free views have been used, a login name and password will be required to view more articles throughout the website.

Front pages will be accessible to viewers and will continue to offer links to advertisers as well as a new feature of providing the entire weekly edition in PDF form (portable document format), which can be viewed in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Acrobat Reader is free to download at www.adobe.com. On many computers, the program comes preinstalled, so check your computer’s applications folder to see if the program is already installed.

The cost of the online subscription will be $3 per month for now with the possibility of paying for a full year later once the Paywall has been established.

The website’s paying function will be regulated through PayPal, which is a payment method used by many users who buy and sell items over the internet using eBay. Although you don’t have to have a PayPal account to access the Clinton County News Online edition, PayPal has been established as a safe method of using a credit card online.

Another new feature readers can take advantage of is our new forms link located at the top right of our website, under the weather icon.

The forms link will allow hunters to upload harvest photos, as well as captions to the Clinton County News and those photos and captions will be published in the Clinton County News’ print edition, as well as the online edition.

Those photos are published free of charge.

News updates can be viewed on Facebook also. All you have to do is search for “Clinton County News” and click “like” in order to follow the latest news, sports and community bulletins.
