“Fall” sports around the corner
Hard to believe, but for the students in Clinton County, summer vacation is winding down, with a scheduled start of the next school year to start up in just over three weeks on August 7.
And for the athletes who will be participating in the lineup of what is called fall sports – the lineup is referred to as “fall” sports, but technically it’s still summer – the new year has already begun.
Practice officially began for many of our fall sports on July 15, as the teams get ready for the upcoming season. Soccer and golf come to mind as the sports that we’ll be covering first, with football right behind followed by cross country.
Friends of Football golf outing
That commercial that features “full contact golf” always comes to mind when we mention this, but the Friends of Football will again hold its annual (now 3rd) golf outing fundraiser, and it’s set for this Saturday, July 21.
Slated to be held at the 76 Falls Country Club course, the event is a 4-man scramble format. The 18-hole event starts with registration at 9:00 a.m. with golf to get underway at 10:00 a.m. Cost is $50 per golfer and that includes entry fee, cart and the promise of a day-long of golfing fun as well as knowing you are helping our Gridiron Dawgs raise some much needed funds.
Register at 76 Falls Country Club (387-0376), or Trisha Miller (931-854-7584) or Sherry Nelson (606-387-3376).
