Clinton County Bulldog guard Keifer Dalton is shown above putting up a shot attempt during a game last Tuesday against Monticello, but it is Dalton’s passing success rather than his shooting eye that has landed him in the record books.

During Clinton County’s game last week against Jenkins in the Riverside Prep Showcase, the Bulldogs’ eighth grade point guard broke a boys’ “Assists in a Single Game” record that has been on the books for 14 years. Dalton finished the game with 15 assists, one more than the previous record set by Tim Moons on December 19, 1997 against Rockcastle County.

“I was really happy for Keifer who set the boys’ school record for assists in a game,” Head Coach Todd Messer said. “He’s done a really good job of understanding, as a point guard, that there are going to be times in a game when it’s your duty to give everybody some scoring opportunities and do what it takes to draw the help to put people in the scoring column.”

Another noteable stat about the game against Jenkins was the final score. The Bulldogs defeated Jenkins 100-32, which is the ninth time in school history the Bulldogs have broken the century mark in scoring. Before Friday night, the Bulldogs’ last game to break 100 came in 2001 when Clinton County scored 112 points against Lynn Camp.
