The Pickett County General Election and State Primary was held on Tuesday, August 2.
The county general election was for the Tax Assessor and 1st and 2nd School Board District. Democratic candidate Kim Logan was voted as Pickett County’s new Tax Assessor with a vote total of 726. The incumbent Larry Anderson received a total of 662 votes and had served the county in that position for 16 years.
School Board race for First District results were close, with incumbent Jimmy Storie winning with 232 votes against Norma Mitchell who received 197 votes. Jerry Mitchell ran unopposed for the 2nd District School Board.
A total of 2,617 voters cast their votes during this election of the 4,179 registered voters.
