The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs hosted Glasgow Friday night at Lindle Castle Gymnasium in what turned out to be a positive effort on the Lady Dawgs’ behalf.
Even though the final scoreindicated a 23-point loss for Clinton County, the “Ladies in Blue” displayed a toughness and a lot of determination that hasn’t been seen on the floor this season.
Clinton County scored 63 points in the game, which is only the fifth time this season the Lady Dawgs have scored more than 60 points. Also, Glasgow was a decent girls’ team that came into Clinton County’s game with a record of 11-8.
Breonia Thurman had an unbelievable game from start to finish, scoring 47 percent of Clinton County’s points with 30.

At the beginning of the game, Clinton County’s Thurman drew first blood with a basket 45 seconds after tip off. Glasgow knocked down the first three pointer, on its way to nine first half three pointers, to take a 3-2 lead.
Thurman hit another field goal to regain the lead with 6:40 on the clock, but three pointer number two and three came back to back and saw the Lady Bulldogs down by five with 5:12 on the clock.
The Lady Dawgs cut the lead to three points on a field goal by Thurman with 5:01 remaining on the clock. Glasgow’s first two point field goal came with 4:36 on the clock, but Thurman was there to add to the Lady Dawgs scoring, 11-8.
Glasgow continued to hit shots down the stretch, but so did Thurman as she hit a three pointer to cut the lead to five after Glasgow jumped out to a 16-8 lead.
After Thurman’s three pointer, Glasgow hit another three pointer and a field goal to move up by 10 points, 21-11.

As the second quarter started, Morgan hit a field goal to cut the lead to 11 points, but Glasgow was there with another three pointer to extend its lead to 14 points, 29-15.
Thurman would score again at the 5:10 mark, but Glasgow would answer with a field goal to push the Lady Scotties back to a 14 point lead.
Glasgow had no trouble scoring throughout the half, but Clinton County couldn’t find itself on offense. The first half concluded with Glasgow taking a 14 point lead into the locker room, 44-30.
During the second half, Clinton County began to be more fear less with the basketball. Even though Glasgow had already taken control of the game, and that didn’t change until the final buzzer, Clinton County remained strong and its determination didn’t let the Lady Dawgs lay down and quit.
Clinton County continued to match Glasgow throughout the third quarter and finished down by 20, 65-45.
The fourth quarter went pretty much like the first three, but Clinton County refused to give up. Glasgow was a better team, on paper and on the floor, but the effort Clinton County showed was probably the best fans have seen all year.
Glasgow only out scored Clinton County by five points in the final quarter, but the damage had already been done.
The Lady Bulldogs moved to 4-20 on the year with the 86-63 loss.
