TURNOVERS

Fall sports in full swing

Every fall sport we have at CCHS – with the lone exception of Cross Country, is now in full swing mode with regular games/matches underway. The Runnin’ Dawgs will get started in a couple of weeks, hopefully under cooler daytime running temps, with the first meet being in early September.

A quick rundown of what’s coming up for the next week in the local sports lineup shows the girls’ soccer playing away three times, Wayne County on August 23, Grayson on August 25 and Monroe on August 27, before returning home for a home match when they host Lincoln. Boys’ soccer joins the girls for double-headers on the above Grayson and Lincoln dates.

The Volley Dawgs will be involved in t he All “A” Classic regionals at Metcalfe August 24 and 25 and will travel to Glasgow on August 28, returning home for a match against Wayne County on August 30.

Our Golf Dawgs will host Adair and Monroe County at Dale Hollow State Resort Park on August 23 and will travel to Barren River State Park on August 25 for the Barren River Invitational. Both the Golf Dawgs and Lady Golf Dawgs will be at home on August 27 to play Taylor and Cumberland County and both travel on August 28 to Monroe County for a double-header match, and both return home for another two-way match facing Cumberland and Green County on August 30.

Our Grid Iron Dawgs, coming off the season opening loss last Friday night to Wayne County, will head across this great Commonwealth of Kentucky for their next game where they will land in Bedford, Kentucky to take on the Trimble County Raiders.

While last week’s Bulldog opponent, Wayne County, plays as a 3A class team, the Dawgs can look forward to facing a more comparable opponent when they take the field this Friday night as Trimble County, like Clinton County, is a 2A squad.

Both the Dawgs and the Raiders will be looking for the first win of the season, with Trimble County coming off of season opening loss themselves coming this past Friday night at the hands of Berea, a 1A program, by a score of 38-0.

For those Big Blue fans who can’t make the trip this Friday night, there is an alternative. Word comes from CCHS Athletic Director Mike Beard that the Trimble County radio station, WIKI, will be broadcasting Friday night’s game and that broadcast can be listened to online.

Good luck to all teams this week wearing the blue and white!
