Student enrollment in the Clinton County school system, as of early this week, was almost even with the ending of the last 2011-12 school term and overall average daily attendance was compared to the same time period a year ago was up dramatically. The latter is a trend that new Director of Pupil Personnel Julie Daniels hopes to see continue throughout the current 2012-13 year.
As of Monday of this week, August 27, the total number of students enrolled in the district, not counting those students at Foothills Academy, was 1,760–just six less than the 1,766 enrolled at the end of the last school year. Figuring in the Academy students, overall enrollment is only eight students less, from 1,819 last year to 1,811 through the first three weeks of school this year.
The total number of students per school as of Monday was 166 (Kindergarten) at the Early Childhood Center; 523 at Albany Elementary School (grades 1-4); 525 at the middle school (grades 5-8) and 459 at the high school in grades 9-12.
The grade with the highest membership per day average was Kindergarten at 164.07 students and the lowest number of students per grade average attendance was the fifth grade, at 112.54 students.
Perhaps the most positive news through early this week was the rate of ADA (average daily attendance) in the district overall, which was some 96.22 percent. This is up over a full percentage point from the same time period a year ago when the ADA was 95.10 district-wide.
The average daily attendance per school, as of Monday, August 27, was: 94.09 at the Early Childhood Center (up from 92.2 last year); 96.73 at Albany Elementary (up from 96.23); 96.88 at Clinton County Middle School (up from 95.77) and 95.21 at Clinton County High School (up from 93.95 at the end of last year.)
Daniels was pleased with the early statistics on student attendance and says she hopes to see the high ADA numbers continue throughout the school year.
The new DPP also discussed the importance of daily attendance and other aspects of her new position in an interview earlier this week. Details of that interview can be found beginning on page 1.
