Volley Dawgs lose at home, pick up win in All ‘A’

The Clinton County Volley Dawgs were defeated Thursday, August 23, at home against Monroe County in two games, 25-14 and 25-12.

Monroe County, a former district opponent, leads the region with nine wins and zero losses.

Clinton County remains in the middle of the pack region-wise, with six wins and 10 losses.

The Volley Dawgs spent the weekend playing in the All “A” Classic Regional Tournament, losing against Metcalfe, 2-1 and picking up a win against Cumberland County, 2-0.

Score for the loss against Metcalfe County were 24-26, 25-23, and 19-25. Clinton County won the match against Cumberland County 25-9 in both games.

The Volley Dawgs traveled to Glasgow Tuesday night, too late for press deadline, and will host Wayne County on Thursday night. Thursday night’s game will start with the junior varsity at 5 p.m.

Clinton County lost the match in two games, followed by a match on Saturday against Metcalfe County in the All “A” Classic Regional tournament, 2-1. Clinton County did pick up a win against Cumberland County in the tournament, 2-0.

Senior Laura Groce tried to block a shot by a Monroe County player Thursday, but Monroe’s hard hitting outside hitters made it difficult for the Lady Dawgs to stop its offense. Clinton County lost the game and moved to 6-10 on the year.
