Fall sports still in full swing
The “fall” season officially arrives this week, but as I’ve mentioned for several weeks in these spaces, fall sports schedules are on-going for Clinton County High School athletes.
While there is still plenty of nice fall weather in store (hopefully), the Golf Dawgs and Lady Dawgs are about to see their respective seasons come to a close within the next week.
Both squads will travel to Kentucky Hills Golf Course in Metcalfe County’s Summer Shade this Thursday for the playing of the District Tournament.
Next week, the teams will be competing in the regional tournament play, with the Lady Golf Dawgs playing on our Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park home course in regional tourney play on Monday (September 24), while the Golf Dawgs will travel to Monroe County’s Hidden Hills on Tuesday (September 25) for regional tourney play.
Both the girls’ (Oct. 1-3) and boys’(Oct. 4-6) state tournaments are the next week and both are to be held at Bowling Green Country Club.
Best of luck to both squads as this 2012 season comes to a close.
In other fall sports, the Gridiron Dawgs (0-5) will still be seeking the first victory of the season this Friday night when they play host to district foe Metcalfe County at Bulldog Field.
The Hornets are bringing a 1-4 season record to Bulldog Field, coming off a 47-6 loss at the hands of Warren East this past Friday night. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the weather forecast is perfect for Friday Night Lights.
Our Cross Country Runnin’ Dawgs will travel on Saturday to Lexington to compete in the Franklin County Invitational Tournament (yes, Lexington is in Fayette County and Franklin County has Frankfort as it’s county seat – go figure).
Over at the Lindle Castle Gymnasium, the Volley Dawgs are slated to host Russell County on Thursday (September 20), travel to Bowling Green for a tournament Friday and Saturday, then play host to Adair County on Monday (September 24), followed by a hosting of McCreary Central on Tuesday (September 25.). All home matches start at 5:30 p.m.
The soccer teams will see the boys hosting Barren County this Thursday (6:00), travel to Warren East on Saturday (2:00), and return home to host Monroe County on Monday (5:30). The girls will be idle until next Tuesday, September 25, when they play host to Taylor County (6:00).
All home soccer games are played at the Clinton County Middle School.
Have fun – and get out to support at least some of our fall sport athletes. We’ll be inside for cold weather before you know it.
