The Clinton County Bulldogs move to 0-5 on the season with a loss Friday night to Caverna, 45-6.
Head Coach Jamie Miller said Caverna was a tough game to lose.
“If things go well for a team they come out and play a little better,” Miller said. “Something bad happened for us early in the game and it seemed like our heads went down. We had some opportunities and we just didn’t capitalize on them.”
Clinton County did score one touchdown during the game, which keeps the Bulldogs scoring streak to all five games this season.
“We just didn’t play very well offensively or defensively,” Miller said. “We made number 15 look like an All-American and they just ran all over us. We came out and played pretty terrible on both sides of the ball. They weren’t very big and physical, but they had speed and I guess they wanted it more than we did.”
This Friday night Clinton County will start district play as Metcalfe County comes to Bulldog Field. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
“We are not going to beat anybody if we can’t block and tackle,” Miller said. “We have to play four quarters of football, not just a good series of plays. If we play four quarters of football then it will be a competitive game. Metcalfe is about like they were last year.”
Miller said his team just needs to play football and have fun. There is no pressure.
“We don’t have any pressure. People don’t expect us to win a game,” Miller said. “Our guys need to relax, try to have fun and get up early and be happy.”
Above, Cody Brown tried to get a firm hold on Caverna’s quarterback during the first half of Friday night’s game. Clinton County moved to 0-5 on the year with the 45-6 loss. Clinton County’s next game will come Friday night at Bulldog Field with kick off to begin at 7 p.m. against Metcalfe County.
