Golf season comes to an end
Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park Golf Course was certainly in the “swing” of things this past weekend, and especially on Monday morning.
With the hosting Monday of the girl’s regional golf tournament, the course was full throughout the weekend with area high school players getting in practice rounds, and on Monday morning, players from across the region, along with their coaches, parents and classmates, covered the course from one end to the other.
For our Lady Golf Dawgs, Monday’s regional tournament was a season ending event, with Clinton County missing the cut for next week’s state tournament in Bowling Green, both in the team and individual events.
Still, with the youth our Lady Golf Dawgs have on the roster this season, and the positive attitudes these young ladies have displayed this season, look for good things to come down the road.
Ansley Stalcup was the team’s “elder” player as a sophomore, with five eighth graders and a seventh grader filling out the remainder of the roster for the Lady Golf Dawgs.
I’ve covered most of the home golf matches this season, and I’ll have to say these girls were especially fun to watch and be around. Good season Coach Starnes – congrats to you and your girls.
Tuesday was the scheduled date for the Golf Dawgs to compete in regional tournament play – too late for this week’s coverage – look for details in next week’s sports.
Dog fight at Bulldog Field
The Gridiron Dawgs will be playing the third of a four-game home stand this Friday night when they play host to the 2A Glasgow Scotties at Bulldog Field.
Clinton County (0-6) is still looking for that elusive first win of the season, coming off of a 45-14 loss this past Friday night against District foe Metcalfe County (2-4).
Glasgow brings a 4-2 record to Clinton County, following the 20-0 loss the Scotties suffered this past Friday night at the hands of the Somerset Briarjumpers.
Kickoff for Friday night’s dog fight is set for 7:00 p.m. Weather forecasts gives a 20 percent chance of showers, with temperatures expected to be hovering around 70 degrees at kickoff.
