The Clinton County Lady Bulldogs traveled to Wayne County to take on the Monticello Lady Trojans Monday night in a game that would see Monticello take the win, 78-48.
“I feel like I have yet to deserve a technical I’ve got. I was setting back in a two-three zone and they were pressing,” Adams said. “They were playing the game on 84 feet of floor and we were playing on 42 feet of floor, but somehow they shot 20 more free throws than we did.”
Adams said what beat the Lady Dawgs Monday night, was the same thing that has beat them all year … turnovers and keeping the other team off the offensive boards.
“We had 28 turnovers and allowed them to get 22 offensive rebounds,” Adams said. “We basically shot the same percentage, but when you get to shoot 20 more times I don’t care what percentage you shoot, you’re not going to win.”
Clinton County was down at the half, 36-19 and cut the lead to six points during the third quarter.
“We went on a 13-2 run to open up the second half,” Adams said.
Even though the Lady Dawgs played well during the first part of the third quarter, Monticello took control after that and out scored the Lady Dawgs 40-16 for the remainder of the game.
