Local authorities involved in meth arrest

On Saturday, October 13, Chief Ernest Guffey and Officer Jim Guffey of the Albany Police Department, were pursuing a suspicious male from Shearer Drug in the direction of Mountain View Trailer Park.

Officer Guffey stopped at the residence behind Shaton’s Storage located on Allen Street acting from a call into Dispatch that the subject had been dropped off at that residence. Officer Guffey immediately noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence.

Another call came through Dispatch that the subject was seen in the area of Mountain View Trailer Park. The subject was spotted by Officer Guffey, in which he relayed the information over the radio to Sheriff Rick Riddle. After a foot chase, Sheriff Riddle apprehended the individual.

Officer Guffey also notified Chief Guffey and Sheriff Riddle about the odor at the residence.

All three officers went back to the residence and obtained consent to search. Several drug related items were found in the residence. A search was also conducted on the outside.

A burn pile was located which contained batteries that had been cut in two, and two HCL generators were found in the same proximity. Chief Guffey and Sheriff Riddle then found a bag that had several chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Jonathan Stuber was arrested for Manufacturing Methamphetamine and the Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors.

The investigation continues by Officer Guffey of the APD in which several other charges will be filed, as well as more arrests possible.
