Meet the Bulldogs, maybe the best yet

Those of you who were able to attend Saturday night’s Clinton County version of “midnight madness” – aka “Meet the Bulldogs” were treated to what I think was likely the best edition yet.

Kudos to the entire athletic staff for putting on a very nice program and giving the fans attending a couple of hours of good, Big Blue roundball entertainment.

The scrimmages and cheerleader presentations gave those attending a nice quick look at the work that has been accomplished so far by the coaches and squads, and gave us some idea of what we might be seeing in a couple of weeks when we throw up that first center-court tip-off.

The three newest members of our Wall of Fame – Brittany Abbott (DeForest), Michael DeForest and Jerry Perdue, were all very gracious in their acceptance speeches and the crowd appreciated hearing of their experiences that eventually landed them among the elite members of the Wall.

All of that said – the biggest addition to the program lineup came with the production of the individual introductions itself, and for that, you can thank the innovative thinking of three people – Booster Club President Lisa Beard, Athletic Director Mike Beard, and Videographer J.T. Hardin.

Taking a cue from the University of Kentucky’s Big Blue Madness video productions – without spending the reported $300,000 that Big Blue nation spent on its production – the video presentation and use of the spotlight just added a dimension that I think everyone attending Saturday night’s event appreciated.

Giving the fans the chance to see brief snippets of each player – along with a brief narrative from each individual telling what it means to them to be a part of the program, took the entire Meet the Bulldogs up to the next level.

As is always the goal – it simply took the program to the next higher level on the “class scale.”

Nice job. If you were there, I would think you would agree. If you missed it – well, there is always next year.

Thanks for a nice production and a nice night to kick off the 2012-2013 Big Blue season.
