The Clinton County Tennis teams took to the courts last week for two matches for the Lady Racket Dawgs and one for the Racket Dawgs. Both teams also traveled to Cumberland County Monday to take on the Lady Panthers and Panthers.
On Tuesday, April 16, the Lady Racket Dawgs took on Glasgow and finished as a team with one win and six losses.
In singles play, Bianca Soma picked up the sole win, 6-1 and 6-0, while Rachel Claborn, Ashley Harper, Keisha Patrick and Abby Craig were defeated during play.
In doubles play, Claborn/Harper were defeated 8-2, and Patrick and Kristin Smith lost 8-0.
On Thursday, April 18, the Lady Racket Dawgs faced Allen County/Scottsville and picked up four wins and two losses.
In singles play, Soma and Claborn won their respective matches, 8-1 and 8-5, along with Patrick picking up the 8-3 win.
Harper lost her singles play match, 8-5.
In doubles competition, Claborn/Harper won 8-5 while Smith/Patrick lost 8-0.
On Monday, the Lady Racket Dawgs took on Cumberland County, picking up five wins and three losses in both singles and doubles play.
Soma won two singles matches, 6-1 and 6-3, along with Patrick picking up the win, 6-0.
Claborn and Harper dropped their matches, 6-2 and 6-1 respectively.
In doubles play, Claborn/Harper won 6-2, Smith/Patrick picked up a 6-4 victory in one match, but lost in their second match, 6-3.
The Racket Dawgs also traveled to Allen County/Scottsville Thursday to take on the Patriots and finished the match with six wins and three losses.
In singles play, it was Zach McFall, Chris Cox, Kyle Choate and Matthew Wells picking up the wins, while Matthew Hunter and John Crouch recorded losses.
In doubles play, the team of Glen England and Haley Matthews lost 9-8, while the team of Choate/Cox and Hunter/Wells won their respective doubles play matches, 6-2 and 6-1.
On Monday, Clinton County took on Cumberland County and picked up five wins and two losses in singles and doubles combined.
In singles play, Cox, Wells and Crouch won their matches while Hunter was defeated.
In doubles competition, the team of Cox/McFall won 6-2, as well as McFall/Choate won 6-0. The only loss in doubles play came with the team of England/Matthews, 7-6.
