Kentucky State University and the Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service will host an aquaculture field day and workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT May 16 at the KSU Center for Sustainability of Farms and Families. Lunch will be provided.
Indoor and pond-side talks will include discussions and demonstrations on production of largemouth bass, paddlefish, catfish, koi, trout, Australian red claw crayfish and freshwater prawns.
Other topics will cover aquaponics, aquaculture economics and marketing, recirculating systems, pond management, weed and disease control, and low input aquaculture. Cage construction will be taught as a hands-on activity.
