Although final collection figures weren’t available by presstime this week, early indications are that last weekend’s Relay for Life American Cancer fundraiser was another successful event for Clinton County. The News hopes to have a complete recap article for next week’s issue.

A few scenes from Friday night’s opening ceremony are included here.

Below, cancer survivors lined up at the start of Friday night’s Relay to accept a purple balloon from event organizers. Those balloons would later be released by the group outside.

Below, as the Bulldog Battalion JROTC presented the colors in the opening ceremony, cancer survivor Amy Gibson and her husband Mark can be seen in the background as the National Anthem is played by the Clinton County High School Band.

Above, Dillon Crawford was Friday night’s special guest speaker. His mother, Rhonda Young, who suffered from breast cancer, passed away last month.
