The Clinton County Tennis teams took to the courts this week and picked up several wins throughout last week’s play.
On Monday, Clinton County played Monticello and on the boys’ side, picked up nine wins with only one loss.
In singles play, Kolby Smith, Chris Cox, Zach McFall, Matthew Wells, picked up wins. John Crouch played three matches and won two while dropping the third, 6-0.
In doubles play, the team of Kyle Choate and McFall won 6-1, Matthew Hunter and Wells defeated their opponent, 6-3, and won their second match, 6-2.
On Thursday, Clinton County faced Cumberland County and the Racket Dawgs picked up five wins while dropping two matches.
Smith, Cox and Hunter picked up three singles wins while Wells and Crouch were defeated, 8-6 and 6-2 respectively.
In doubles play, Matthews and Glen England won their match, 6-2, while Choate and McFall also won, 6-2.
On the girls’ side of the court, Monday, April 29, Clinton County faced Monticello. Bianca Soma and Rachel Claborn picked up two singles wins, 6-2 and 6-3 respectively, while the team of Keisha Patrick and Kristian Smith lost two doubles games by a score of 7-5 in both matches.
On Thursday against Cumberland County, Soma won two singles matches, 6-4 and 6-2, while Claborn, Ashley Harper and Patrick picked up wins, 6-2, 6-2 and 6-3 respectively.
In doubles play, Harper/Claborn won 6-3, Patrick/Smith won, 6-0 and 6-2.
Last Tuesday, April 23, Clinton County faced Monroe County, picking up five wins and two losses.
Soma won her match 8-2, while Patrick won three singles matches, 8-2, 8-1 and 8-2. The only loss in singles play came during Claborn’s match with an 8-4 final.
In doubles competition, Soma/Claborn won 8-6 while Patrick/Smith lost 8-4.
