Lindsey Wilson College graduate John Brown of Albany, Ky., is flanked by his grandparents, Bill, left, and Faye Shehan, both of Union, Ky., following Saturday’s spring commencement ceremony at the liberal arts college in Columbia.

The Shehans, 1963 Lindsey Wilson alumni, celebrated their induction into the Golden Alumni Society, and Brown earned a bachelor of arts degree in biology, cum laude. Saturday’s 2013 spring commencement marked the first time a student graduated from LWC on the same day relatives were inducted into the Golden Alumni Society. The Shehans spend part of the year in Clinton County.

John, a 2009 graduate of Clinton County High School, is the son of Jeff and Martina Brown, of Albany.

LWC awarded a total of 226 undergraduate and graduate degrees Saturday at the college’s LWC’s 97th commencement ceremony, held in Biggers Sports Center. Combined with the 381 degrees awarded at winter commencement, this school year’s 607 degrees make the Class of 2013 the largest in LWC’s 110-year history.

Brown will be a student this fall in the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.
