Lt. Col. John S.

Williams

Lt. Col. John S. Williams, 75, Pall Mall, Tennessee, formerly of Cookeville, and a native of Byrdstown, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Clinton County Hospital. He was a Retired Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a Shriner, member of Byrdstown Masonic Lodge #496, Hull-York DAV and Board of Director for Friends of Cordell Hull. He was preceded in death by his parents, E.O. and Letha Williams, an infant son, Jerry Williams and a brother, Wendell Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Deanie (Dyer) Williams; two sons, Col. John D. (Michelle) Williams, Clarksville, TN; Bob (Susan) Williams, Georgetown, KY; two sisters, Alice Jean (James) Talbott and Martha (Richard) Bonnell, both of Muncie, IN; a brother-in-law, Tommy and sister-in-law, Marguerite Bertram, Albany; a grandson, Matthew Williams; a nephew, Dr. Max (Barbara) Talbott, Austin, TX; three nieces, Laura (G.D.) Hieronymus, Nicholasville, KY; Dr. Carol (Steve) Peddicord and Nell (Tony) Boils, all of Albany; also several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Chapel in Byrdstown, Tennessee with Ivan Raley, Jeff Amonett, Garth Lehman, Pat McWhorter and Dr. Max Talbott officiating. Masonic services were held Friday, February 25 by Byrdstown Masonic Lodge and graveside military honors by Hull-York Chapter 5 DAV. Final resting place in Chanute-Campbell Cemetery in Pickett County, Tennessee with arrangements made through Brown Funeral Chapel of Byrdstown, Tennessee.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Albany First Christian Church, Hull-York Chapter 5 DAV, Shriners, Byrdstown Masonic Lodge #496, American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
