One person was charged with several offenses in connection with break-ins at two local businesses last Wednesday night.

Wesley Carter, 23, of Jamestown, was taken into custody around 1:30 p.m. last Thursday, May 23, by Russell Springs Police Department Assistant Chief Jamie Rogers and Jamestown Police Department Chief Derek Polston and charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Assistant Chief Rogers said the charges he filed are in connection with a burglary that occurred late last Wednesday night or early Thursday morning at Jamestown Auto Sales in the Middletown area.

Chief Polston’s charges against Carter are in connection with a break-in at Cool Stuff For You, a wireless phone and electronics business next to Hubbard’s Auto Parts in Jamestown.

The break-ins at both businesses were discovered early Thursday morning. Assistant Chief Rogers confronted Carter after a report was called in that a man, appearing to be muddy and bloody, was seen coming out of an area of high weeds in the Middletown area just after 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

Interviews with Carter, plus the recovery of most of the stolen property, resulted in his arrest.

Carter was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
