Rec/Park Board regular meeting

The Clinton County Rec/Park Board will hold its regular meeting Thursday, June 27 at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Park. The meeting is open to the general public. 36-2

Fun For All Ages Program

A Fun For All Ages Program is being held on Tuesday nights from 4-5 p.m. at the Clinton County Public Library. There are kid friendly stories and nutrition related activities for youth. Library staff will be on hand to work with any adult wanting to learn more about computers, such as e-mail, internet and Microsoft. For more information contact the Extension Office at 387-5404.

Fire Membership now due

Anyone who is not currently receiving city water may want to purchase a Fire Membership with the City of Albany. If you are already paying fire membership dues, it is time for renewal! Your 2013-2014 payment is due by July 1, 2013. The fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. You may pay dues at Albany City Hall or mail them with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: City of Albany, P.O. Box 129, Albany, Kentucky 42602. Attention: Remona Sexton. Wellness Center fitness classes 

The Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center is offering the following fitness classes: 

* Mondays: Water aerobics, 8:30 a.m.; cycling, 3:30 p.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30-5 p.m.; cycling, 5 p.m.; Line Dancing, 6:15 p.m.

* Tuesdays: Pilates/Yoga, 8:30 a.m.; Dancercise, 9:30 a.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30 p.m.; cycling, 5 p.m.; Zumba (beginner), 6:15 p.m. 

* Wednesdays: Water aerobics, 8:30 a.m. 

* Thursdays: Pilates/Yoga, 8:30 a.m.; Dancercise, 9:30 a.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30 p.m.; cycling, 5 p.m.; Zumba, 6:15 p.m. 

* Friday: Water aerobics, 8:30 a.m. 

Line Dancing from 6-7 p.m. every Monday. Free to members, $3 for non-members. Zumba classes with membership is $2.50 per class; non-members $5 per class. All other Group Fitness Classes are included in the membership.

VA officer available 

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447 

Class of 1958 reunion planned

The Clinton County High School Class of 1958 will hold its 55th anniversary reunion on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 4-10 p.m. at the Dale Hollow Lake State Park. Lodging reservations at the park may be made by calling 800-325-2282. All class members are urged to attend, including members who started with the class but did not graduate, as well as spouses of deceased members. Members are requested to furnish their address and phone number by calling (606) 387-6021 or writing to 1958 Class Reunion, P.O. Box 177, Albany, Kentucky 42602. District Facilities Plan Public Forum

On behalf of the Clinton County Board of Education, the Clinton County Local Planning Committee will convene a public forum to solicit public comments concerning the District Facilities Plan. The forum will be held on Monday, July 18, 2013 at the Clinton County Board of Education Office at 5:30 PM local time. 37-2

VA Rep available 

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Veterans can schedule an appointment by phoning 270-651-9578 or toll free at 800-850-1392. 

Narcotics Anonymous 

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Bright Idea Missionary Baptist Church basement in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

Class of 2003 reunion

Kids Fit Club

Kids bored? Driving you crazy? Nothing to do? Kids Fit Club is the ticket to beating the mid-summer blues! Lots of games, fun and healthy activities designed to get the kids out of your hair and burn off a lot of energy! The Kid Fit Club starts July 1 at Twin Lakes Wellness Center. Free to members age 4-7 and 7-12 years of age (donations appreciated.) Non-members are $6 per class. Class times are Monday 6-7:30 p.m. (7-12 age group) and Wednesday 3-5:30 p.m. (4-7 age group). Soil Conservation meeting

The Clinton County Soil Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the conference room of the FSA/NRCS office. The meeting is open to the public.

4th of July Veterans Display

This year at the 4th of July events at the Clinton County Fairgrounds, we would love to have on display for the public; photos, memorabilia, and souvenirs from our local veterans from their time of service. This will be a great way to let everyone see history, and also honor those who fought for our freedom. Water fitness classes offered

Exercising in the water is a great option for participants of every fitness level, beginners through elite-level athletes. Walking in water, while much easier on your joints, is much more difficult for your muscles. A 160-lb. person will burn 292 calories in a one-hour water aerobics class, compared to the 277 calories burned while walking at a 3.5 mile pace. Find your swimsuit and jump in the pool at Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30-9:30 am Just $3 for non-members per class.

Line Dancing at Wellness Center

Line dancing is offered at the Wellness Center Mondays, 5-6 p.m. and every third Friday, 5:30-7 p.m. Low impact dancing has been proven to ease the obstacles of aging if done weekly. It is the third most popular extra curricular activity in the world for those over the age of 50: 1) Lowers blood pressures and cholesterol levels; 2) Increases mobility without joint damage; 3) Increases balance control and centering; 4) Increases bone mass and muscle; 5) Aids in effort to lose weight; 6) Eases levels of depression; 7) Staves off early signs of Alzheimer’s.
