CCHS Soccer Club meeting/car wash

The CCHS Soccer Booster Club will meet Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at Lee’s Famous Recipe and on Saturday, July 13 will have a booster club car wash starting at 8 a.m. at Advanced Auto.

Band Camp set for July 24-29

Clinton County High School Band will have Band Camp Wednesday, July 24 through Monday, July 29 at the high school. Camp will begin a 8 a.m. and continue until 11 a.m. each of the five days. Of course, there will be no camp on Sunday, July 28. All members of the 2013–14 High School Band are required to attend this camp which is in preparation for the upcoming football season.

Twin Lakes Beekeepers to meet

The Twin Lakes Beekeepers Association will meet Thursday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Extension Office. These interested in beekeeping are welcome to attend.

Self Defense Tactics to be taught at Twin Lakes Wellness Center

Self Defense Tactics with Ricky Marcum is being offered at the Wellness Center. Anyone sixteen (16) years or older can learn how to protect themselves with easy to use self defense techniques that require little to no strength in order to help you get away from an attacker. Proven techniques give you the tools to protect yourself in any situation from violent crime to assault of any kind. The class will run four weeks, meeting every Thursday, starting July 18 from 6-7:30 p.m. The total cost for the course is $30 for members and $40 for non-members.

District Facilities Plan Public Forum

On behalf of the Clinton County Board of Education, the Clinton County Local Planning Committee will convene a Public Forum to solicit public comments concerning the District Facilities Plan. The forum will be held on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Clinton County Board of Education Office at 5:30 p.m. local time.

Little Dolphin swimming lessons

Little Dolphin Swimming Lessons will be held Monday through Friday, July 15-19 at Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center. Cost is $45 for the first child and $35 for each additional child. Classes are in the afternoon in three different sessions, 4, 5 and 6 p.m. Deadline to sign up is Friday, July 12.

Outdoor Movie and Fun Night

A free Outdoor Movie and Fun Night will be Thursday, July 18 at the Wellness Center with free public swimming from 7-9 p.m. Come see who the winners are of $500 cash and a Smoker/Grill set. Concessions will be available and everyone is invited to attend.

Fun For All Ages Program

A Fun For All Ages Program is being held on Tuesday nights from 4-5 p.m. at the Clinton County Public Library. There are kid friendly stories and nutrition related activities for youth. Library staff will be on hand to work with any adult wanting to learn more about computers, such as e-mail, internet and Microsoft. For more information contact the Extension Office at 387-5404.

Wellness Center fitness classes 

The Twin Lakes Family Wellness Center is offering the following fitness classes: 

* Mondays: Water aerobics, 8:30 a.m.; cycling, 3:30 p.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30-5 p.m.; cycling, 5 p.m.; Line Dancing, 6:15 p.m.

* Tuesdays: Pilates/Yoga, 8:30 a.m.; Dancercise, 9:30 a.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30 p.m.; cycling, 5 p.m.; Zumba (beginner), 6:15 p.m. 

* Wednesdays: Water aerobics, 8:30 a.m. 

* Thursdays: Pilates/Yoga, 8:30 a.m.; Dancercise, 9:30 a.m.; Ab Ripper, 4:30 p.m.; cycling, 5 p.m.; Zumba, 6:15 p.m. 

* Friday: Water aerobics, 8:30 a.m. 

Line Dancing from 6-7 p.m. every Monday. Free to members, $3 for non-members. Zumba classes with membership is $2.50 per class; non-members $5 per class. All other Group Fitness Classes are included in the membership.

AA meeting 

AA will be meeting each Thursday and Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the basement of the First Christian Church. 

VA officer available 

Veterans Service Officer Earl Claborn is available to help veterans and their families with VA benefits. The office is located in the Clinton County Community Center. Office hours are Monday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 606-387-9447 

Class of 1958 reunion planned

The Clinton County High School Class of 1958 will hold its 55th anniversary reunion on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 4-10 p.m. at the Dale Hollow Lake State Park. Lodging reservations at the park may be made by calling 800-325-2282. All class members are urged to attend, including members who started with the class but did not graduate, as well as spouses of deceased members. VA Rep available 

Veterans and their families seeking benefits in south central Kentucky will now be able to find help and advice at a central location. Gary Jones, the Veterans Benefits Field Representative for Clinton and surrounding counties, will be in Glasgow at 126 E. Public Square, Lower Level, every day except for the first Tuesday, second Monday, second Tuesday, second Thursday and third Monday of each month. Narcotics Anonymous 

Narcotics Anonymous group meets each Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the Bright Idea Missionary Baptist Church basement in Albany. These meetings are open to anyone wanting to address their drug and alcohol problems.

Class of 2003 reunion

Diabetes classes at Health Department

Do you have diabetes? Feeling overwhelmed? Just want to feel better? We are here to help you…each step of the way! The Clinton County Health Department will be sponsoring a class entitled “Traveling with Diabetes” on Tuesday, July 23 from 1-2 p.m. at the health department.
